June 3 - Placerville

Thanks again Ranger Wade for your contribution to the ride! Missed turn right off the bat again today. My family is being somewhat kind as they know what my solution will be... if you don't like it, you can lead! So besides that, it continued to be the hardest day yet! Later start again and tough climbing. The kids are doing fine but the weight of the trailer is hard for me. Mike's doing well with his. We made the decision at breakfast to not go 13 miles off route to camp tonight and stay again at a hotel. An 1840 inn with incredible history that James ate up. He is trying to decide which is scarier... rattlesnake or ghosts! Pizza tonight and a walk around town. We met some great people tonight. Even though the media part of the trip didn't seem to pan out, Mike has become quite the spokesman for this trip and cause by passing out our cards and talking to people about why we are riding. I met some nice people at a breakfast stop today and they wondered if Rebecca was the girl from the area who invented diabetes monopoly... interesting! Coming into Placerville we met 2 nice guys who were interested in our ride and were a bit of nomads themselves with a hike across Spain later this year! Fun! One of their 4 year old nieces was just diagnosed. I hope the sister checks out the blog and feels good about the great progress being made towards a cure and learns more about what The Jackson Laboratory is doing to advance the research! Thanks to the nice couple we met a couple times tonight that listened to my concerns about James struggling with the day today. They also took this picture... yes, there is a mom with these 3 kids!
