July 8

On route to Scott City and hot, hot, hot! They are at the end of the
harvest of winter wheat so we see trucks carrying the wheat and then
transfering to grain elevators and trains or trucks being loaded also.
James needed a pit stop along the way so we stopped into a weigh and
check station and learned a bit about the weighing and testing of the
harvested goods. Interesting. The guys that drive the trucks are very
kind to us and give us a lot of clearance on the road too. We pass
fields of corn, wheat, yards of cattle ready for loading (p.u.),
silos, and an occasional ranch. Not much else. Good that it us flat
with the winds going the wrong way though but it does make it hotter.
