Day 43 - to Larned City - July 11

On route to Larned City - tough head wind. Bob Coleman said he was going to put in a request upstairs for 25 mi/hr winds going east. Bob, that was GOING east NOT coming FROM the east! It actually is keeping us somewhat cool though. The breeze wherever it comes from blowing over our sweaty bodies is actually helping. When we stop, it's brutal because there are no trees or shade! We have stopped into a couple grain stations to get cold water because drinking the hot water is also brutal! Mike continues to love the ride through Kansas where the heat is really getting to me. I was with James midday and I kind of lost it a bit (true confessions here!) I thought he could go faster than 4 miles an hour and thought he wasn't trying hard enough. I just wanted to get out of the sun quicker! The headwind was brutal though. He did pick it up afterwards with a more patient father and then he got picked up all together by our new friends, Ann and Gary Jost (friends of Bob Coleman's)!
